Department of Library Development

Department of Library Development is a structural division that coordinates all library activities, ensures the implementation of innovative technologies, and organizes professional development and training for library staff.

It also carries out the library’s analytical, research, and marketing activities. In addition, it develops strategic plans for the advancement of library services, provides methodological support, and conducts analytical work aimed at improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the library’s operations.

Department of Acquisitions, Cataloging, and Document Processing

The Department of Acquisitions, Cataloging, and Document Processing develops and maintains a diverse library collection covering various fields of knowledge and including different types of publications.

The library collection is systematically enriched with scientifically, informationally, historically, and artistically significant documents, periodicals in all branches of knowledge, and other information resources, taking into account readers’ interests and demands.

The department is responsible for processing newly acquired literature and maintaining the general alphabetical catalog, as well as alphabetical and systematic catalogs for readers. It also manages the electronic catalog of the library’s collection based on the “Mega-Rabis” program.

The Department of Public Events, Exhibitions, and Cultural Activities

The Department of Public Events, Exhibitions, and Cultural Activities is a structural subdivision of the library. The department is responsible for promoting the library, attracting readers, popularizing literature, organizing leisure activities for the public, and conducting public events dedicated to significant dates and occasions.

In addition, the department coordinates the activities of the library’s art gallery.

Department of Information and Bibliographic Services

The Department of Information and Bibliographic Services is one of the main structural divisions of the library and is responsible for its information and reference services.

Bibliographers provide users with informational and reference-bibliographic services, conduct information searches based on user requests, including virtual inquiries, organize various informational events for specialists, and carry out work related to the development and maintenance of databases.

Department of Reader Services

The Department of Reader Services provides high-quality library and information services to readers, satisfies their informational needs, and promotes interest in reading.

The department is responsible for popularizing the library’s collection, providing readers with the necessary publications, and organizing various cultural and educational events. In addition, the department provides consultation and guidance on searching for, selecting, and effectively using literature.

Department of Main Book Collection Storage

The Department of Main Book Collection Storage is responsible for preserving, maintaining, and organizing the library’s primary collection of books and other printed materials. The department ensures proper storage conditions, systematic arrangement, and efficient access to the collection for readers and library staff. It also carries out work related to the accounting, preservation, and long-term safeguarding of library resources.

Foreign Language Literature Unit (American Corner)

Foreign Language Literature Unit (American Corner) supports readers in learning the English language, provides access to literature in foreign languages, and contributes to the cultural and intellectual development of young people.

The project is also aimed at introducing international experience through various educational, cultural, and creative activities, as well as creating opportunities for personal growth and self-development.

Department of Library Process Automatization

The Department of Library Process Automatization is responsible for automating library activities through the use of information technologies, maintaining the electronic catalog and databases, and ensuring the efficient operation of library processes.

The department also develops digital resources and works to improve the quality of modern information services provided to users.

Catalog Organization Unit

Catalog Organization Unit ensures the systematic registration, description, and accessibility of the library collection for users.

The unit is responsible for recording newly acquired literature, carrying out its bibliographic processing, and entering information into both electronic and traditional catalogs. In addition, it organizes books according to thematic, author, and alphabetical principles, helping readers quickly locate the information they need.

Local History and Literature Unit

The Local History and Literature Unit is a structural subdivision dedicated to the study, preservation, and promotion of the history, culture, nature, and social development of the native region.

The unit introduces readers to the works of local poets and writers, collects materials related to the history of the region, and provides access to these resources for users. It also carries out activities aimed at promoting historical and cultural heritage, including organizing book exhibitions, literary and educational evenings, meetings, and presentations.

Subscription Services Unit

The Subscription Services Unit provides readers with the opportunity to borrow literature for home use.

The collection includes educational, popular science, and fiction literature in both Kazakh and Russian languages. The unit operates an open-access system, allowing readers to freely choose the materials they need.

In addition, the unit organizes book exhibitions, literary evenings, and presentations of new books.

Periodicals Unit

The Periodicals Unit provides readers with access to periodical publications, including newspapers and magazines.

The unit ensures free access to the library’s collection of periodicals covering all fields of knowledge, including both archival issues from previous years and newly received publications.

The collection of the Periodicals Unit includes local, national, and international periodicals from both neighboring and distant countries.

Reading Hall

The Reading Hall provides prompt and high-quality library services to readers, offers access to a universal book collection, provides consultation and guidance on the effective use of information resources, and creates comfortable conditions for reading and study.

The department also organizes book exhibitions, literary evenings, and public events, while promoting and highlighting significant events and developments in society.

Art Hall

The Art Hall provides access to the heritage of national and world art.

The hall’s universal collection includes literature on various forms of art, including publications dedicated to Kazakh music and fine arts. Readers are provided with information on both professional and folk art.

In addition, the hall organizes thematic exhibitions of new books, meetings with artists and cultural figures, as well as cultural and educational events.

Registration and Control Unit

In accordance with the library’s rules and regulations, the Registration and Control Sector is responsible for registering readers and renewing their memberships.

The sector maintains the electronic database of library users based on the “Reader Registration” module of the Mega-Rabis program.

Rare Collection Storage Unit

The Rare Collection Storage Unit is responsible for the acquisition, preservation, and effective use of rare books and manuscripts that possess significant historical, cultural, and scientific value within the library’s collection.
